How to make a Leather Knife Sheath by hand
Making a hand sewn, tooled leather sheath for a bowie knife. I start with a template and cut it out of nine-ounce vegetable tanned leather, including the welt and snap loop. I go through the process of layout, sewing, basket weave tooling, dyeing and treating the sheath with oil.

    Thank you for the great video. Is there a general rule about the size of the billet concerning the knife size you want?

    • @TonySeverioKnives
      @TonySeverioKnives 4 дні тому

      Thanks! No rule other than the rule of math. The bigger the billet, the longer/wider the blade. For this size knife I used 3 1/4 inch thick pieces cut about 5 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide. If I wanted a longer blade, I would have added length to those pieces. I just guess at it liberally to make sure I have enough. 🙂
